A New Christian Vision
I've been reading a lot of different Christian writers and I have a strong feeling that a new understanding of Christianity is bubbling beneath the surface. Does anyone else feel that there is a revolution waiting to happen?
For it is not what you are nor what you have been that God regards with his most merciful eyes, but what you would like to be.

Perhaps. Can you say a little more about what you mean?
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this:
to care for orphans and widows in their distress,
and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
--James 1:27
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it''s the only thing that ever has.”

I would certainly hope that something new is about to happen. Sometimes I don't feel like Christianity is about love any longer. And as John Lennon put it, "All you need is love".

In any argument, our objective should be to love – not win.

I think that you hit the nail on the head Jonesy. I am not sure where I was at when I started this thread.
I think that we have to understand that there is not "One Way" (if I can go back to my evangelical days in the '70s). There are many paths to God and a relationship with the numinous. I have a fairly Libertarian view of spirituality. It is time for the religious establishment to get out of the way and let each of us express our spiritual nature in our own way.

Re: A New Christian Vision
I reckon that one of the defining attributes of the Christian faith (at least in its early days) was a new understanding and revolution bubbling underneath.
It still should be!
To me faith is very fluid. Yes there are scriptures and doctrines and laws to guide, but the essence of faith is fluid and we can even see the malleable nature of faith expressed in the scriptures.
Thank goodness for that because it allows the ebbs and flows of faith in our own lives to exist without condemnation.
